Scooping the awards!
As well as the Trophy for Best Shiraz, and the inaugural James Halliday Trophy for Best Red Wine in Show at this year’s National Wine Show, the 2019 Fairbank Syrah has scooped the pool and taken out the Prime Minister’s Trophy for Champion Wine of Show.
Bright ruby red with purple hues. Aromas of wild red fruits and boysenberries, with lifted notes of aniseed, lavender and violets and subtle, warm nutmeg and cinnamon spices. The palate is medium bodied, with fresh red fruits and delicate, powdery tannins. The wine finishes bright and spicy, with a lovely dark chocolate powder and mineral finish.
95 – Jeni Port, Halliday’s Wine Companion
“Fairbank shows the other side of the syrah coin, the plummy, juicy, sweet-fruited side that offers excellent early drinking, with the promise of some medium-term ageing. Brilliant purple hues, bright, jubey, cassis, plum and concentrated spice. Balance, texture and good length on display, together with some signature bush mint. It’s all here.”
