Hailing from the Barossa Valley and last tasted in June 2016 comes another gorgeous red from the Penfolds stable.
On the nose this deep dark red has all the right ‘ingredients’ – dried herbs, tobacco, mint, rosemary and thyme that mix with familiar aromas of roasted lamb, dark olive and pulpy tomato and just a hint of oak.
On the palate, olive sits over a coffee-ground base with tastes of blackcurrant, mulberry, boysenberry fruits complemented by a tomato puree sweetness. The friendly mix of trans-Atlantic oaks finishes clean and long.
“It’s first and foremost Penfolds, second Cabernet Sauvignon… It will travel easily thanks to the balance of fruit, oak and tannins.” – Peter Gago, Penfolds Chief Winemaker.
