Drawn from the pristine harvest of the Barossa Valley, this dense dark red Cabernet Sauvignon, was last tasted by the wine maker in 2013.
On the nose it is instantly Penfolds with mint, rosemary and sage. Along with wafts of Chorizo, tomato and red capsicum – reminiscent of bruschetta.
On the palate there are tastes of green olive, broccoli, spinach, broad beans with a fresh acidity coupled with the ‘non-shy’ tannins of oak which is awakened with a swirl.
92 – Tyson Stelzer (The Wine Companion)
“Benefiting in no small part from relegation of fruit otherwise destined for Bin 707 and 169, this is a varietally accurate style of black and redcurrant fruit, capsicum and dried herbs. It’s tangy, crunchy, lively, fragrant and earthy, finishing edgy with firm tannins and green capsicum notes.”
Peak drinking is now until 2025.
