From Bin 407 comes the 2020 cabernet sauvignon from Penfolds.
Medium red core with a ruby red rim, the nose features a true varietal stamp. With aromas of fresh blackberries and mulberries, there is also a refreshing note of spearmint (sweet jelly leaves, anyone?). From the grill, it has Harissa spiced lamb chops and spices are also well represented including hints of toasted cumin and coridander seeds, fresh bay leaf and turmeric. The complexity derived of both French and American oak are apparent – and finally a dusting of cocoa.
On the palate, a generous fleshiness persists across the palate.
This is one to watch and will evolve beautifully over the next two or three decades.

“There’s lots to love here, from the vibrant cabernet fruit profile to the succulent and expressive tannins that are juicy yet supportive, the palate even and beautifully balanced in its final hurrahs.”
