2013 was a strong vintage. Dry and warm conditions resulted in lower fruit yields which showed strong, structural tannins and created wines of great intensity and flavour.
This is one for the cellar. With peak drinking between 2018 – 2040, this wine has time on its side.
With a bouquet of dark fruits and chocolate contrasted with biting cinnamon and pepper, this wine is still evolving as it ages.
On the palate this wine is a wave of fruits and spice unleashed. Juicy tannins and oak add volume and density to culminate in a long and lingering finish.
As Penfolds Chief Winemaker Peter Gago describes it, this wine is “Expansive, explosive, exotic…a Bin 389 triple-ex palate rating!”
Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste.
“…This goes down among the great vintages of Bin 389. It’s one for the cellar, a season of concentration, deep structure and vibrant colour that upholds brightness and promises decades of longevity.”
