DANDELION CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2019

$22.99

From the pride of South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula comes the Dandelion Cabernet Sauvignon 2019. This is a classic Aussie cabernet, boasting trademark notes of black fruits, mocha and menthol, punching well above its weight, with the fruit and silky tannins in perfect balance.

The colour is a bright fresh-berried and red-purple, alive and inviting. On the nose is an abundance of red and black berry aromatics for which cabernet sauvignon is rightly renowned. There are hints of blackberry, mulberry, raspberry and loganberry along with traces of cassis, menthol, and spearmint; eucalyptus, fresh pepper, laurel leaf and fennel fronds. These are such dominant aromas that the poised and subtle older French oak bouquet is almost imperceptible, but would be missed if it wasn’t there.

On the palate, a two-part harmony of raging, surging, power-bursting berry fruit flavours harnessed by swirling, rolling currents of tannin – foursquare and block in shape. Licks of racing acidity are slick and keen around the entire palate’s edge. The depth of berry fruit is Mariana Trench-like, and the drying tannins that make for a long, lingering aftertaste promise life in the cellar. This is cabernet that is proud, yet also winningly friendly.

93- Ned Goodwin, The Wine Companion

“… I have great affection for cabernet from the Fleurieu, with its bold flavours and inimitable maritime salinity, the latter marking the tannins while placing the wines. Here we have a cornucopia of blackcurrant, menthol, pastille, iodine, violet, olive spread and sage. The tannins, firm, salty and crusted with herb. The barriques, seamlessly integrated and part of the mould. A moreish, powerful and delicious wine.”
