The Museum Release. The result of a warmer and more generous vintage for the Canberra District, the detail and persistence of flavour yielded from these famous vines has never been more clear than in the 2016 Shiraz Viognier release.
The 2016 vintage was generous and early. Late summer temperatures were consistently warmer than average and a larger than average crop proved to be a double blessing, slowing the ripening, which would have otherwise raced ahead, and filling the fermenters in our winery with some of the most opulent, spice laden, dark berry fruit we have seen.
98 – James Halliday
“The perfumed, spicy bouquet with red flowers and fruits doesn’t prepare you for the intensity and piercing length of its beautifully balanced medium-bodied palate. This is a truly glorious wine that draws you back again and again to explore the wealth of red fruit flavours, and the majesty of its texture and structure.”
97 – Huon Hooke
“Medium to deep red colour with a good rim of purple, the bouquet is fresh and pepper/spicy with a decidedly foresty whole-bunch nuance. A lovely complex bouquet, which will only get more so with time. The palate flows on from the nose precisely, with intense spice and berry flavours, a hint of violets and some floral nuances. A perfumed, high toned, supremely elegant red wine.”
