From Queenstown, New Zealand comes Chard Farm’s Mata Au Pinot Noir.
This stunning Mata Au Pinot Noir from Chard Farm shows a deep ruby colour accompanied by a crimson haze. The perfumed nose flaunts earthy scents of red and blue fruits, dark spice, and dried herbs. The elegant palate contains red fruit flavours supported by fine and silky tannins. The finish is long and textured, marked by lovely mineral notes.
It is a combination of Chard Farm’s three vineyard locations across Lowburn and Parkburn, including the Viper and Tiger sites. Less new oak goes into this release and it veers towards the elegant rather than the butch in the Otago Pinot scale.
Drink this tempting Pinot Noir with spinach pie, beef stew and Camembert cheese.
95 – Bob Campbell, The Real Review
“… “Tantalisingly pure pinot noir with fresh cherry, red rose petal, and sweet plum flavours together with a seasoning of spice and anise. A silken-textured wine that delvers power with great subtlety.”
